Sky-High Safari Ropes Course Attendant

We are currently seeking dependable and enthusiastic Sky-High Safari Ropes Course Attendants to join our team for our evening event season! In this thrilling role, you'll guide and support guests as they challenge themselves on the Sky-High Safari and Tiny Trailblazers Adventure ropes courses—encouraging confidence, adventure, and fun every step of the way. You may also have the opportunity to train at and assist with other attractions as needed. This position reports directly to the Attractions Manager.

Essential Functions: 

  • Guest Experience: Clearly and confidently communicate with guests while guiding them through the ropes course experience. Maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Safety: Perform daily inspections of equipment and course structures. Appropriately determine participation eligibility based on safety requirements and ensure all guests are adhering to guidelines throughout their experience. Routinely practice emergency procedures as required by Ropes Courses, Inc.
  • Professional Appearance: Wear the assigned uniform and nametag with pride. Promote an approachable environment to support our award-winning guest experience. Maintain cleanliness around attraction areas, ensuring they are always free of clutter, hazards, and debris.

Education and Experience: Strong communication and good decision-making skills. Ability to remain calm and confident while assisting participants of all ages collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This position will have duties standing for extended periods of time, lifting 25 lbs., and heights over 30 feet in all outdoor weather conditions. The ideal candidate will have previous customer service and challenge course experience with flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Must be at least 18 years old.

Graphics Assistant

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Graphics Assistant to join our creative team. In this role, you will support new and ongoing design projects, including the layout and production of signs, interpretive graphics, marketing materials, and digital and print advertisements. This position reports directly to the Graphics Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure all graphic materials align with brand and style guidelines and uphold quality and accessibility standards. 
  • Conduct regular reviews of in-park signage, maintaining an up-to-date sign inventory. 
  • Schedule and manage digital displays. 
  • Follow production schedules and consistently meet project deadlines. 
  • Assist the Graphics Manager and team with other duties and projects as assigned.

Education and Experience: An associate’s degree or equivalent training in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred. One or more years of experience in graphic design, print, or sign production, or any equivalent combination of portfolio, skills, and training. Candidates should be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere) and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel). Photography experience is a plus. 

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organized, and attentive to detail, with strong time management and follow-through skills. Flexibility for occasional weekend and after-hours projects as needed. A valid South Carolina driver’s license is also necessary.

Public Safety Officer (2nd Shift)

Part-time (Saturday and Sunday: 3:30pm-12:00am)

We are seeking a dependable Public Safety Officer to join our team! In this dynamic position, you will maintain the security of Riverbanks’ east and west campuses during evening hours while the park is closed to public use. This position works closely with the Public Safety Supervisor and Seniors and reports directly to the Public Safety Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitors gate entrances and exits and provides public assistance during evening programs.  
  • Patrols and secures park, buildings, and surrounding areas. 
  • Completes security reports.  
  • Assists with various meter readings and the monitoring of after-hours irrigation systems and filling of animal pools. 
  • Answers incoming calls, provides information to callers, and takes messages. 
  • Provides good customer service and strives to achieve excellent public relations.  
  • Maintains a second shift schedule. Saturday and Sunday: 3:30pm-12am. 
  • Weekday shifts may be available on occasion as well as extra hours for scheduled events. 

Education and Experience: High school graduate with one to two years’ experience as a security guard; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a very high standard of service. Must possess or be eligible for a valid SC driver's license.

Gondola Maintenance Technician

We are currently seeking a Gondola Maintenance Technician who will perform inspections, maintenance, and repair of Riverbanks’ Gondola System (Saluda Skyride), including fixed and detachable carriages, conveyors and their related systems. Reports to the Gondola Maintenance Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs lift start-up and shut down procedures on Saluda Skyride.
  • Performs regular maintenance checks, troubleshoots technical issues, and repairs malfunctions which may include low voltage electrical systems, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Completes proper documentation and records as required.  
  • Applies information from manufacturer’s manuals and blueprints for service, repairs and replacement component (mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic).  
  • Participates in all maintenance needs and respond to calls from Saluda Skyride Operations Staff.  

Education and Experience: The ideal candidate will be a high school graduate with vocational/technical training in a related field. Comfort with performing duties 10-60+ feet from the ground will be critical in this role. Several years of experience in machinery maintenance/repair or a related field with transferable skills is preferred. Candidates with a solutions-oriented mindset will stand out in the applicant pool. Individuals applying must possess or qualify for a valid S.C. driver's license.

Maintenance Technician

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician that is responsible for general repair and maintenance of a variety of structures, equipment, vehicles, and facilities at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. 

Essential Functions:

  • Duties will vary daily and can include assignments such as general repair, preventative maintenance, carpentry, minor plumbing/electrical/HVAC, welding, excavating, fence repair, etc.
  • May be required to operate medium to heavy equipment such as a forklift, backhoe, skid steer, snorkel lift, trencher, etc. as required to complete assignments.
  • May participate in renovation or construction projects.
  • Available to work occasional evenings when needed for special projects or zoo events.
  • Available to work on weekends.
  • Available for on-call duty after hours.

Education and Experience: High school graduate with vocational/technical training in equipment repair/trade or Associates Degree in related field, and three to five years of experience as a maintenance worker or tradesmen; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Must possess or be eligible for a valid S.C. driver's license.
